Summary: Excellent Snow Blower
Comment: The Toro 1800 is a terrific alternative to the traditional, gas powered models. It is light weight and easily handles snow depths of 6-8 inches. It is not noisy and you won't miss the gas fumes. Best of all, squeeze the handle and it starts. There is the issue of cord management but with a little care, it isn't too much of a problem.

Summary: Tiny but powerful
Comment: As a Wisconsin resident that has always used a shovel, I finally decided to get a snow thrower this year. I am not handy with machines, and don't have gas hanging around in my garage, so an electric was perfect.

This product does a great job for its size. It is not as powerful as those large gas powered ones, but I can easily clear my driveway with this, and it is light enough my wife carries it through the house to do the back porch (something my neighbor can't do with his big rig).

It is powerful, but will not handle what the city plow leaves at the base of the driveway. You can hit that in layers if it is thick, but it stil works. We have had 40" of snow so far this year, and I am very happy with the purchase.

Summary: The little snowblower that could
Comment: I've had this snowblower through half of a Chicago winter so far, including three big storms, and it's indispensable. No louder than a vacuum cleaner, this electric wonder cut right through everything Mother Nature dropped on my driveway. Think this snowblower is for weaklings and hippies? Think again.

Assembly was easy, consisting of attaching the handle and chute. The instructions were pretty detailed, so even a novice can have everything put together in a half hour. The body of the snowblower is plastic, which concerned me at first, but it's held up so far.

There's practically no maintenance required for the Toro 1800. You just plug it in and get down to business. Since it's lightweight, you can steer it anywhere you want. You might need to make a couple passes over an area, though, if the snowblower decides it wants to roll above the snow instead of through it. The rear wheels are hard to see in the product photos, but they really are the small, plastic kind that other people warn about in their reviews. Some extra traction would be nice, but I'm sure I can replace the wheels with something more substantial, or wrap a big rubber band around them if need be.

My co-workers weren't sure an electric snowblower was the best idea for someone living in Chicago, but it's turned out to be a solid investment, and it certainly beats shoveling!

Summary: I needed this SO bad!
Comment: We have gotten buried with snow this year. It was getting really hard to throw the snow from the shovel at all, or high enough! This is easy to use (just be really careful controlling where your electrical cord is at all times). It's very light, you can lift it easily, clean steps or porches, it cleaned right down to the ground. It's easy to handle compared to pushing a big snowblower around. When we had a freeze after the snow, and I wanted to protect it, I just put it in my kitchen! It does throw the snow quite a distance, does great on light snow, but requires a few passes to take down high or heavy stuff. It's like a munchkin snowblower!! Very happy so far.

Summary: SHOULD BE MARKETED AS A CHILD'S TOY
Comment: Bought yesterday--returned today! Light, 1-1/2 inch snowfall totally baffled this so-called snow thrower. Snow just spun around, accumulating in the impeller, and never made it to the chute. Even my trick of spraying vegetable oil on the impeller and chute didn't help. My 12" Snow Fox purchased on Amazon three winters ago beats the pants off of this modified tin can. I may be losing 6" on the swath, but it's a good trade-off for retaining my sanity. Note to the people who posted positive reviews: are you sure it was snow that you were throwing?
