Customer Rating: Summary: Parrot CK3100 Bluetooth LCD Display Car Kit Comment: This was a replacement for a Parrot CK3100 that came with my car when we bought it last Christmas. This Parrot was one of those things that you never knew you needed it until you had it. It picks up your phone within seconds of getting in your car and then when you get a call the call comes thru the stereo speakers of your car & caller ID is displayed on the Parrot. There is a microphone that is installed near the driver seat so you don't have to fumble for your phone when it rings. Set the Parrot to auto answer and by the second ring you are talking. You don't even take your hands off the wheel. I purchased 1 for my husband and now my mom, aunt and best friend have one in their cars too. Having a Parrot was definately something I never would have done but since it came with my car when we purchased my car used I'm hooked... now I can't live without it. If you have a Bose stereo in your car you need to have Car Toys install it. If you have a basic stereo Best Buy is the way to go for installation. Enjoy!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great product Comment: Very easy to hook up with additional cable from quickconnect.com
Went into a crown vic police car.
Sound quality is very good on my end but some callers say that they can tell I'm on a bluetooth of some sorts. The voice commands work very well. This is truly a great hands-free system.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not so easy install. Comment: This is a fantastic unit. Easy to operate and sounds great. BUT! Unless you are an automotive electrical expert I wouldn't suggest trying to do the install without ordering the adapter cable set that matches your car and radio. Parrot's instructions are crap. And their web site isn't any help either. With the adapter though it's just plug-n-play. No cutting or splicing ANY wires.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great ... When it Works ... Comment: My wife and I *really* loved this unit. It looks good, it was relatively easy to install, fit nicely under the dash and it was very easy to use. But we ended up sending it back.
It seems to have an issue with heat. We live in Southern California and it seems that every two to three weeks or so, we'd get the "white screen of death": just a blank white screen, sometimes with an odd warning tone or sometimes completely without the tones you'd normally get when it powers up. And when the ignition was turned off, the unit would stay illuminated and not power down as it should.
The only solution to this (after two calls to Parrot and another to Crutchfield) seems to be to pull apart the dash and reseat all the connections on the main controller, as well as the cable connection on the back of the display. Kind of a pain-in-the-you-know-what in my wife's Honda. Add to that having to enter the security code on the radio (I now have it memorized!) and reset all the stations (those too!). I've now done it at least six times and I'm tired.
We considered getting a replacement unit, but we have read other reports of heat induced failures on the internet and didn't want to go through the replacement process only to have this keep happening. And I hear the 3200 suffers from similar problems.
I also have to say that Parrot support is less than stellar. At one point I had to leave a message because no one was available and I waited for a call back for a week. I sent additional eMails with no response. I finally had to call them again and got an answer to my question. This is not the only lackluster experience I've had with them. We had issues with another underperforming Parrot product as well and had about the same level of service.
So, if you are considering buying this, think about where you live and if it *ever* gets hot - even in the summer. Or, for that matter, if the inside of your car ever gets really hot. You might end up going through what we did. I wish I could say otherwise, because this *seems* to have everything you could possibly want in an aftermarket hands-free device.
But I can't.
